It is a fact that any
internal combustion engine benefits from breathing unrestricted, cool,
dense air because it increases the engine's volumetric efficiency by
occupying less space. Additionally if such air is available at a pressure
closer to atmospheric, a ramming effect is easily created. So, for every
combustion cycle, more of it can be inhaled, This additional metered-air
can then be mixed with more fuel for increased power (compared to the same
engine breathing hotter air) and improved throttle response. Typically,
this improvement is accomplished by eliminating obstacles and optimizing
the path the incoming air has to follow before it reaches the combustion
chambers. Through the reduction and elimination of sound-deadening
bottlenecks and sharp turns commonly found in OEM systems, and the
addition of well-designed new replacement parts, a shorter, more direct
and less restrictive pathway not only can help retain longer the cool
outside temperature of air (compared to the hot air inside the engine
bay), but it can also minimize any drop in air velocity and also allow for
the introduction of a genuine ramming effect. |
